This Privacy Policy explains how CiteCue ("CiteCue", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you visit citecue.com, use app.citecue.com, join our waitlist, or otherwise interact with our services (the "Service").
If you have questions, contact us at info@citecue.com.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account and profile information — such as your name, work email, company name, password, and billing details when you create an account or subscribe.
- Waitlist information — work email, website domain, and the page or feature that referred you ("source") when you join early access.
- Customer content — domains, URLs, prompts, reports, support messages, and other materials you submit for analysis or optimization.
- Communications — messages you send to us by email or through support channels.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data — pages viewed, features used, timestamps, referring URLs, and interactions with the Service.
- Device and log data — browser type, operating system, IP address, and diagnostic logs needed to operate and secure the Service.
- Security signals — information processed by Cloudflare Turnstile and similar tools to detect abuse, including challenge results and related metadata.
Information from third parties
We may receive information from payment processors, authentication providers, analytics tools, and publicly available website data when you ask us to analyze a domain.
2. How we use information
We use information to:
- provide, operate, and improve the Service;
- create and manage accounts, waitlist entries, and subscriptions;
- analyze domains and generate visibility, citation, and content insights;
- communicate about access, product updates, support, and security;
- detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and technical issues;
- comply with law and enforce our terms;
- develop new features, including automated recommendations and AI Auto-Fix capabilities.
3. Legal bases (EEA, UK, and Switzerland)
Where applicable, we process personal data on the basis of contract performance, legitimate interests (such as securing and improving the Service), consent (where required), and legal obligations.
4. How we share information
We may share information with:
- Service providers — hosting, infrastructure, email, analytics, payment, customer support, and security vendors that process data on our behalf under contractual safeguards.
- Professional advisers — lawyers, accountants, and insurers where reasonably necessary.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate protections.
- Legal and safety — when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Service.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Google user data (Analytics and Search Console)
If you connect Google Analytics or Google Search Console, we access read-only data from the properties you select — such as traffic sources, referrers, impressions, clicks, queries, and index coverage — to power features like AI Referrals and AI Readiness. We request only the minimum, mostly read-only scopes needed, we do not use this data for advertising or to train AI models, and we do not sell it.
CiteCue's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy (opens in a new tab), including the Limited Use requirements. For the full disclosure — scopes, storage, retention, and how to revoke access — see our Google User Data & API Services page.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies for essential site operation, security, and preferences. See our for details.
7. Data retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Waitlist entries are kept until access is granted, you ask us to delete them, or they are no longer needed for the waitlist program.
8. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and infrastructure hosted on Cloudflare. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
9. International transfers
We may process information in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
10. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal data, and to data portability or withdrawal of consent.
To exercise these rights, email info@citecue.com. We may need to verify your request. You may also unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in those messages.
Residents of certain U.S. states may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws. We do not use personal information for targeted advertising as defined by those laws, and we do not sell personal information.
11. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes may also be communicated by email or in-product notice where appropriate.
